A customer in Clifton or Model Town hands over a bag: four shirts, two shalwar kameez, a sherwani for a wedding next week and a duvet. Your counter writes "8 pcs" on a slip. Ten days later she says a shirt is missing, and there is no way to prove whether it ever arrived. Every laundry and dry cleaner has had this conversation.
Laundry software is mostly about one idea: every piece has a number from the moment it crosses the counter. Everything else, from pricing to riders to monthly bills, hangs from that.
Booking item by item
The counter picks each item from a price list: shirt, trouser, suit, sherwani, bridal dress, curtain, blanket, carpet by square foot. Each has a rate for wash and press, dry clean, press only and urgent service. The receipt lists every item, the total, the advance and the promised date. A tag with the order and item number is printed or written for each piece. Stains, missing buttons and damage are noted at the counter, with a photo for expensive items.
| Status | Who updates it | What the counter sees |
|---|---|---|
| Received | Counter staff | Item booked, tag printed |
| In wash or dry clean | Wash floor | Not ready, expected date |
| Pressing | Press section | Almost ready |
| Ready | Packing | Rack number where it hangs |
| Out for delivery | Rider | Rider name and time |
| Delivered | Rider or counter | Signed or paid, closed |
Status that answers the phone for you
Most calls a laundry receives are "is my order ready?". When each item's status is updated as it moves, the counter answers in seconds, and a WhatsApp message goes out automatically when the whole order is ready. Partly ready orders can be handed over in part, with the remaining items still tracked.
Pickup and delivery
Households increasingly want pickup from home. Each pickup request needs an address, time slot and rider. The rider's list for the day shows stops in order; at each stop he confirms the number of pieces collected, and the counter tags them on arrival. On delivery he records cash collected or marks the order as on account. At night, cash with each rider is checked against his list. This is the same route discipline described in our salesman order booking app guide, in a smaller form.
Monthly accounts: hotels, salons and families
Guest houses, small hotels, salons and gyms send towels and linen every day, and some families pay monthly. These customers need a ledger: every order on account, a statement at month end, and recoveries tracked. Count linen by type both ways, sent and returned, so shortages are caught the same day rather than at month end.
Check today's ready list
Make sure every item marked ready is on its rack number.
Reconcile riders
Match each rider's deliveries and cash against his list.
Review overdue items
List items past their promised date and call those customers first thing tomorrow.
Count the cash drawer
Compare cash, card, JazzCash and EasyPaisa totals with the day's receipts.
Send account items
Confirm linen counts for hotel and salon accounts before the day closes.
Pickup and delivery is the same pattern we built for Siratim, a bottled water brand whose CRM and ERP handle customers, orders and deliveries. Different product, same questions: which customer, which address, which rider, and was the money collected. When those answers sit in one system instead of a rider's notebook, missed pickups and short cash become visible the same evening, not at month end.
Wedding season and urgent orders
Wedding season brings sherwanis, bridal outfits and family suits, many marked urgent. Give urgent orders their own colour on screen and their own rate, and make sure the wash floor sees them first. Expensive bridal pieces should carry photos at booking and a signed note of any existing damage.
Choosing the right size of system
A single counter with a few dozen orders a day can start with a simple POS system set up for item tags and statuses. Branches that send clothes to one central plant need orders to move between locations with their tags, which is closer to the multi-branch software setup. Our invoicing software guide covers monthly statements. Sales tax on services is provincial in Pakistan; confirm with your tax adviser how it applies to your laundry.
The billing must keep working offline during load shedding and sync later. If you are tired of the missing-shirt argument, book a demo; we will set up your price list on the call.
Questions people ask
Do I need a tag printer?
It helps, but it is not required on day one. Many laundries start with pre-numbered cloth tags written by hand and move to printed tags once volumes grow.
Can customers book a pickup on WhatsApp?
Yes. The counter enters the pickup from the WhatsApp message, or a simple booking link fills it in directly. The rider sees it on his list.
Can it handle a central plant and several collection points?
Yes. Each collection point books and tags items, the plant updates statuses, and items return to the right point. Every point sees its own orders.
Does it work without internet?
The counter keeps booking and billing offline and syncs when the connection returns. Riders' apps do the same.
