POS system for DHA and Clifton, Karachi: cafés, boutiques, salons and pharmacies

A POS system in DHA Karachi or Clifton has to bill through load shedding, print the Sindh sales tax on a restaurant bill, integrate with the FBR where the tax rules require it, close cash, cards, JazzCash and EasyPaisa separately, and take delivery-app and WhatsApp orders into one queue. Operix installs and trains on site, because Karachi is our city.

POS system for DHA and Clifton, Karachi: cafés, boutiques, salons and pharmacies

You run a café on Khayaban-e-Bukhari, a boutique in Zamzama, a salon in Phase 6 or a pharmacy near Boat Basin. Saturday evening is the week's money: the tables are full, delivery-app orders are chiming on a tablet, three customers want to pay by card and one is sending her order on WhatsApp because she is stuck in traffic on Khayaban-e-Ittehad. Then the light goes. A cash register or a billing sheet cannot hold that evening together. A POS built for Karachi can.

Sales tax on the bill

A restaurant or café bill in Karachi carries sales tax on services, which is provincial and administered by the Sindh Revenue Board. A shop selling goods deals with the FBR instead, and the tax rules decide which retailers must integrate their POS with the FBR system. The POS should print the right tax line for each case and keep the monthly sales summary your accountant files from. Which rate and which rules apply to your business: confirm with your tax adviser. Our FBR POS integration guide explains what integration actually involves at the counter.

Billing through load shedding

Load shedding and patchy internet are the normal state of a Karachi counter, not an exception. The POS must keep billing on the local machine when the connection drops and sync to the cloud when it returns, with no missing receipts and no double entries. Ask for this in the demo: pull the internet cable and bill three sales. A small UPS for the billing PC and the printer is the cheapest insurance you will buy.

Delivery apps and WhatsApp orders

Most DHA restaurants get a steady share of orders from delivery apps, and most boutiques take a few orders a day on WhatsApp with a bank-transfer screenshot. If those sales live outside the POS, stock is wrong and the day's cash never matches. Delivery orders should land in the same queue as the tables, print to the kitchen and close under the app as a separate payment method, so the app's settlement can be matched later. WhatsApp orders are entered as sales with the transfer, JazzCash or EasyPaisa payment recorded against them.

This is how Cheesy Bite runs: online ordering, a staff dashboard and the POS share one set of orders. Hadies Crust, a Karachi bakery, takes its online orders through its website. For the kitchen side, read our restaurant POS guide for Pakistan.

Branches from Clifton to Do Darya

An owner with a counter at Dolmen Mall Clifton, a second at Do Darya and a third on 26th Street needs one price list, one stock and one report. Stock transfers between branches are recorded at both ends, cash is closed per shift at each counter, and the owner sees every branch on a phone, including Seaview on a Sunday evening when the whole city seems to be there. Each branch keeps billing on its own if head office goes offline.

  1. Clean the item list

Export your menu or stock list with prices, sizes and colours. Delete items you no longer sell.

  2. Choose the hardware

A billing PC or tablet, a thermal printer, a barcode scanner for shops, and a UPS. Standard brands are sold in Karachi; we tell you what to buy.

  3. Install on a quiet morning

We set up on site, print a test bill and connect the card machine's end-of-day total to the shift closing.

  4. Run both for a few days

Bill on the POS and keep the old register beside it until the shift closings match.

  5. Go live on a weekday

Start on a quiet day with our person at the counter, so Saturday's rush runs on a system staff already know.

Questions people ask

Do I need FBR POS integration for my boutique in DHA?

The tax rules decide which retailers must integrate, and it depends on your category and size, so confirm with your tax adviser. The POS can be integrated when you are required to, without changing how your staff bill.

Does the POS work during load shedding?

Yes. Billing continues on the local machine and syncs when the internet returns. Keep the PC and printer on a UPS so the counter itself stays on.

Can delivery-app orders come into the POS?

Where the app provides an integration, orders arrive in the POS queue and print to the kitchen. Where it does not, staff enter them on a fast screen and close them under the app as a payment method, so settlements can be matched.

Do you have an office in DHA or Clifton?

Our office is in Old Clifton, Karachi, so yes, we are local. Discovery, installation and training for DHA and Clifton happen on site at your counter.

How much does a POS system cost in Karachi?
