A buyer asks for your website before the first meeting. A bank or a tender form asks for it. A trading partner abroad looks you up before replying. If the answer is an old page, a Facebook link or nothing, the company looks smaller than it is. This guide answers the questions owners of trading, manufacturing, consultancy and service firms ask us before they commission a company site.
What pages does a business website need?
A company site is not a store. Its job is to let a buyer confirm what you do, see that you are real, and reach you without effort. That takes a small set of pages, each doing one job.
- Home: what you supply, to whom and from where, in the first screen, with one clear way to enquire.
- Services or products: one page per line of business, not one long list. A buyer searching for a single service should land on a page about that service.
- About: the people, the premises, registrations and memberships, and clients you are allowed to name.
- Proof: projects, certificates, catalogues as downloads, and photos of your own premises rather than stock images.
- Contact: a WhatsApp button, a map pin to the office, phone numbers, working hours and a short enquiry form.
Corporate buyers vet a supplier site more closely than this; what they look for is covered in what corporate buyers check on a B2B website.
What makes a buyer call instead of leaving?
Clarity first. A visitor should know from the first screen whether you supply what they need. After that, proof: real photos, named products with specifications, and signs that the company exists at an address. Then an easy next step on a phone: a tap to WhatsApp, a map that opens directions to your office, and a form that asks for a name, a number and the requirement, nothing more. Business in Karachi runs in Urdu and English, so say which languages you reply in.
How does a business website bring enquiries from Google?
Only if it is built for search from the first day. That means a separate page for each service or product with its own title and description, headings that use the words buyers type, fast loading on mobile data, and a sitemap submitted to Google when the site goes live. Your Google Business Profile should point to the site so a map search and a web search lead to the same place. Search setup is part of the build, not a package sold later. If a quote lists SEO as an add-on, ask what the base build leaves out.
Who updates the website after launch?
Your own staff, through an admin panel. New products, a price list as a download, a news item about a new line or a certification: none of that should need a developer. Ask for the admin to be shown to you before you sign, and for training on it at launch. What needs checking in the months after is in website maintenance after launch.
Who should own the domain, hosting and code?
Your company. The domain should be registered in your company's name with renewal reminders going to your email, the hosting account should be yours, and the code should sit in a repository you can access. Put all of that in the written quote. If a developer is reluctant, that tells you how things will go when you want to move away.
What decides the cost of business website development?
The number of pages, whether the text and photos are ready or must be produced, the languages, the size of the admin, design work such as a new logo, and any connection to another system, such as enquiries landing in a CRM. Time depends mostly on how fast content and approvals come from your side, so ask for the timeline and the milestones in the written quote. Starting prices are on our pricing page.
| Option | What you get | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-page site | Every section on one scrolling page with a single contact form | A new firm with one service, or a holding page before a larger build | Only one page to rank, and little room to add services later |
| Multi-page business site | A page per service or product line, about, proof, contact and an admin panel | Traders, manufacturers, consultancies and service firms | Every page needs real content, and someone must keep it current |
| Business site with online store | All of the above plus a catalogue, cart, checkout and order admin | Firms selling packaged products to many buyers | Stock, delivery charges and payment rules must be settled before launch |

Questions people ask
Do I need a website if my business is on Facebook and WhatsApp?
Yes, if you sell to other businesses. Buyers, banks and tender committees look for a website on your own domain. Social pages support it; they do not replace it.
Should the business website be in Urdu or English?
English for corporate and overseas buyers, with Urdu where your customers are local traders or households. A site can carry both; decide which pages need each.
Can enquiries from the website go straight to WhatsApp?
Yes. The enquiry form can send to email and WhatsApp, and a WhatsApp button can open a chat with a message that names the page the visitor was on.
Can I add an online store to a business website later?
Yes, if the site is planned for it. Tell the developer at the start so the product pages and admin are built to take a cart later without a rebuild.
Does a small business in Pakistan need a multi-page site?
Not always. A one-page site works for a single service. Move to several pages when you have services or products that buyers search for separately.
