POS system in Dammam and Khobar for retail and restaurants

A POS system in Dammam or Khobar must be ready for the weekend, when families and visitors over the King Fahd Causeway fill the Corniche and the malls from Thursday evening. It should run family and singles sections, close mada, Apple Pay and cash separately, and issue every receipt as an e-invoice with a QR code and 15% VAT.

POS system in Dammam and Khobar for retail and restaurants

Your café sits on the Khobar Corniche, or your shop is a unit in Dhahran Mall or Al Rashid Mall, or you run a family restaurant on a Dammam main road. The week is quiet until Wednesday; by Thursday evening the car park is full, families from both cities are out, and visitors who have crossed the King Fahd Causeway from Bahrain are looking for dinner. By Saturday night it is over, and the till has to tell you what the weekend made, section by section, before Sunday's orders go in.

The weekend is the business

The Eastern Province weekend runs from Thursday evening to Saturday night. Rosters, stock orders and promotions are built around it, so the POS should be too: a shift pattern that starts on Thursday afternoon, a business-day cut-off that keeps a late Thursday under Thursday, and reports that compare one weekend with the last rather than one calendar week with another. Delivery-app orders rise with the dine-in crowd and should land in the same kitchen queue, not on a separate tablet.

Family section, singles section, takeaway

Restaurants here are laid out in sections, and a POS that treats the floor as one list of tables makes life hard for the waiter. Tables should belong to a section, staff can be limited to their section, and the kitchen ticket says where the order goes. Takeaway and delivery orders sit in their own queue with a promised time. The restaurants page covers kitchen display and tables; our Riyadh POS guide covers shifts that run past midnight, which Khobar's Corniche cafés know well.

Payments, receipts and the QR code

Each sale is a simplified e-invoice with a QR code and 15% VAT, issued by the POS at the moment of sale. mada, Apple Pay, STC Pay, other cards and cash are separate methods on the receipt and separate lines at closing, so the card terminal's settlement matches the till. Returns and voids are made against the original receipt with a manager's PIN. Which ZATCA integration wave applies to your business is a question to confirm with your tax adviser. Our guide to POS systems in Saudi Arabia covers the rules across the Kingdom.

Mall unit or street restaurant

  • A mall unit trades the mall's hours, shares the mall's internet, and sees most of its sales after Asr; the counter must keep billing if the connection drops.
  • A Corniche café has outdoor tables, a takeaway window and late shifts; waiter tablets and a late cut-off matter more.
  • A retail shop needs barcode scanning, sizes and colours as variants, and returns against the receipt.
  • A second branch in Dammam, or one in Jubail, needs its own stock and cash but the same menu, prices and owner dashboard.
  1. Map the floor

List sections, tables and the takeaway window, and decide which staff serve which section.

  2. Build the menu in both languages

Enter items with Arabic and English names, sizes and modifiers, and the kitchen station each goes to.

  3. Match payment methods to the bank terminal

Create mada, Apple Pay, STC Pay, card and cash as separate methods so closing matches settlement.

  4. Set roles and the cut-off

Cashiers sell; managers approve discounts and voids; the business day closes in the early morning.

  5. Connect delivery orders

Bring delivery-app orders into the kitchen queue, or set up a fast manual entry screen for them.

  6. Run a dry weekend on a Wednesday

Serve a few test tables, close a shift, read the report, and fix anything before Thursday.

Where Operix stands

Operix Systems builds the POS system for Saudi Arabia from Karachi, two hours ahead of Dammam and Khobar, and delivers it remotely: discovery on a video call, every screen approved before it is built, weekly releases on your own menu, training in Urdu or English, and support on one WhatsApp number. We have no office in the Eastern Province and no Saudi client yet. The restaurant system you can try is Cheesy Bite, a pizza restaurant's online ordering, staff dashboard and POS. If you also supply industrial buyers, our guide to ERP software in Dammam and Khobar covers that side. Book a demo and tell us your sections and your busiest night.

Questions people ask

Do you have an office in Dammam or Khobar?

No. Operix works from Karachi and serves the Eastern Province remotely, with video-call discovery, weekly releases and WhatsApp support. You buy standard printers and tablets locally and we configure them with you on a call.

Can one POS run a Khobar branch and a Dammam branch?

Yes. Each branch has its own tables, stock, cash and staff, with one menu and price list, and the owner sees both in one dashboard.

Does it support family and singles sections?

Yes. Tables belong to sections, staff can be limited to a section, and kitchen tickets show where the order goes.

Does it work with our bank's card terminal?

The card is taken on the terminal and the POS records the method and amount, so closing matches the settlement. Where the terminal offers an integration, the amount can be sent to it from the POS.

Can delivery-app orders come into the POS?

Where the app offers an integration, orders arrive in the kitchen queue. Otherwise we plan a fast manual entry screen so the order is still cooked and counted in the same place.
